After an extended and difficult period away from the skies, the Soaring Club of Tasmania is looking forward to returning to flying operations at Tunbridge Airfield within the next two weeks.
The past several months have been challenging for our club and we are grateful for the patience, support, and understanding shown by our members, the wider gliding community, and those who have been waiting to experience their Air Experience Flights.
Looking Forward
Returning to the air is always a moment of quiet joy for a gliding club, and we are approaching our resumption with renewed care, energy, and purpose. Flying will recommence on a Sunday schedule as conditions and crew availability allow – as always, notification will be posted on our Facebook page the evening before each flying day.
A Refurbished Fleet Ready to Fly
The downtime has not been wasted. Our primary training glider, the IS-28B2 (VH-WVR), has undergone an extensive refurbishment and is in outstanding condition – more on that in a separate post.
We look forward to welcoming both familiar faces and new visitors back to Tunbridge soon.
If you have an Air Experience Flight voucher that lapsed during our pause, please get in touch – we will honour outstanding bookings and work with you to arrange your flight as soon as we are operational.
Contact Stephen Ross on 0447 518 223 or Richard Doyle on 0419 992 264 to arrange your flight.
