How it works
One of gliding's great advantages: all instruction at Gliding Tasmania is provided free of charge by volunteer instructors. As a member, you only pay for the actual aircraft time and tow costs. Rates are set annually by the committee.
All hire rates apply to financial members of Gliding Tasmania only. If you are not yet a member, join here.
The Fleet
Hire rates apply to financial members only. All aircraft are maintained to the standards required by the Gliding Federation of Australia.

The backbone of the club fleet. A high-performance two-seat fibreglass glider ideal for instruction, dual cross-country, and passenger flights.
A classic Glasflügel single-seater. Available to solo-qualified members for cross-country and soaring flights over the Tasmanian Midlands.
A versatile light sport aircraft available for hire to qualified pilots. Ideal for currency flying, local area familiarisation, and general touring around the Tasmanian Midlands.
Our dedicated aerotow aircraft. Used exclusively for towing gliders aloft. Tow costs are charged per flight based on release altitude — see Aerotow Rates below.
Tow costs
Tow costs are charged separately from aircraft hire and depend on the release height. All heights are Above Mean Sea Level (AMSL). There is a flagfall of $20 per tow.
